Spiritual Hunger

Last Saturday, me and a couple of buddies started a journey through Satisfy Your Soul - Dr. Bruce Demarest.  As we started to talk it was apparent in our individual walks with Christ, this far,  that we all either currently are, or have been in places where we have to acknowledge the stirring of the Holy Spirit within us.  Being in a place where we crave Him, wanting to be closer, and not knowing what stands between us (if anything) and how to close the gap is challenging.  As we launch into this study, we've purposed to ask believers and non-believers in the next couple of weeks, about their life perspective on spirituality. We've also purposed ourselves to look inward and identify what prevents us from trusting God to satisfy our innermost needs.

  1. Today I was moved to think about what it was that God put in us that was so special, that we were elevated above all creatures and the heavenly host...what part of Him was put in us for which He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten son? Some days, when I sin or I see the consequences of my past sins, I have a hard time seeing through all of my iniquities what He sees in me as so special. These lead me down some of the more destructive paths of self-doubt and greatly contributes to my inability to trust God. I know He loves me, has saved me, will forgive me of my sins...I am ransomed. But for what? What part of Him is in me?

  2. Good Thought - in contemplating this I went to Genesis 1:27 God created man in His own image. Man/woman were created last after their domain had been created. We were created to give God glory and be witnesses to who He is, eternal, creator, lover of our souls. I believe that we only know "what part of Him is in us" as we seek Him, desire with our whole hearts to know Him and through this know is plan for our life. The strengths, abilities and creatativity that we could otherwise live our whole life and never know.
